Schwalbach Stars in Baseball’s Regional Run!

Mason Schwalback stars in Baseball Regional Run

Sophomore catcher Mason Schwalbach (Marian Central H.S.) had a record-setting performance during the MCC baseball team's recent postseason run which ultimately left the Scots two wins from making the NJCAA World Series, finishing with a 45-12 record. In four games in the Region 4 tournament, Schwalbach hit 7 home runs, had 13 runs batted in, and had a whopping .813 batting average. He was named the Region 4 Tournament Most Valuable Player, which is the first time in the last 20 years that the MVP has gone to a player, not on the winning team.

Head Coach Jared Wacker lauds Schwalbach,

"As coaches, we are always trying to prepare our players to be at their best when their best is needed. Mason is the epitome of that concept. I've never had a player step up in more big moments than him. He knew how much the team relied on him and he never shied away from that. He embraced it. He's just a perfect example of hard work and preparation coming together to create an all-time career here in this program."

Schwalbach, who recently graduated from MCC with a 3.7 GPA, finishes his career as one of the most decorated players in program history. He was a two-time All-Conference and two-time All-Region performer. He became the school record holder in single-season home runs (22), runs batted in (88), and slugging percentage (.861). He is also the school record holder in career home runs (32), runs batted in (145), and slugging percentage (.792). He was named an NJCAA All-American after his freshman year in 2022 and was recently named the 2023 D2 Region 4 Player of the Year. Schwalbach will be continuing his academic and baseball career at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
