MCC Women’s Volleyball Returns for 2021 Season

The MCC Women's Volleyball team has officially returned for the Spring 2021 season.

After their traditional season was postponed in Fall 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, the team is back and ready to play under NJCAA COVID-19 guidelines. The 2021 13-game schedule kicked off at home on Wednesday, February 17 where the Scots won 3-0 against Morton College.

"Our first home game was joyful," said Karen Wiley, Director of Athletics at MCC. "We're so thankful for everyone who made this season possible. It's about so much more than just playing a game. Our athletic programs, coaches, and players have shown great resilience over this past year."

Under the COVID restrictions, regular season travel is limited to Region 4 and ISCC conference games. Masks must be worn at all times, and there is a maximum of 50 people allowed in the gym at any given time. No spectators are allowed.

Head Coach Kyle McCall and Assistant Coach Shari Mayner have worked diligently with a steady focus and optimism, Wiley said.

"The team has remained together to train, and their dedication both on and off the court is remarkable. They earned an average 3.4 GPA in the Fall semester and are currently ranked #8 in NJCAA national polls. They are a very talented group, hungry to compete and represent our college with class."

The next game for the Scots will be Thursday, February 25 at 6 p.m. vs. Triton College.
