Kimmy Hammond named October 2019 Student-Athlete of the Month

Kimmy Hammond, October 2019 Student-Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Kimmy Hammond earning the MCC Student-Athlete of the Month honor for October. The Johnsburg High School graduate is a sophomore player on our volleyball team. Kimmy is a defensive specialist for the 2019-20 Scots. Kimmy holds national rankings for her efforts, she's #3 in the nation in total digs at 587 and #6 in the nation for digs/set at 6.2. She is at 1,547 career digs.

"Kimmy is one of the best defenders I have ever coached. She works hard on the court and in the classroom. She will do big things wherever she goes next," lauds Head Coach Kyle McCall. "I have loved watching Kimmy dig balls no one thought was possible but Kimmy. She sacrifices her body to keep points live and brings fire and energy to her team."

Her efforts carry over to the classroom where she has earned Academic All-Conference honors and is on course to attain the honor again this year.

"We are proud to have an area student-athlete represent so well through our program and department," adds Director of Athletics Karen Wiley.
