Crystal Lake, Ill. – The MCC women's basketball team is off to a 1-0 start after four quarters of domination over the Madison College Wolfpack. Jennifer Heinberg led the way for the Scots scoring 27 points in the 88-48 victory.

MCC jumped on Madison from the start, bursting out to a 16-6 lead by the end of the first frame. From there, the Scots kicked it up another notch outscoring the Wolfpack by 18 in the second quarter and by 14 in the third. The 79-37 advantage was way too much for the visitors to overcome as MCC coasted to a winning start to their season.

Kylie Lemberger nearly notched a double-double with 12 points and eight boards. Maddie Martin Martin was third on the Scots in scoring with 11 points to her name, while Nyiah Udoiwod and Kelsey Modaff each had ten.

Head Coach Karey Wiley:

"It was just so nice to be in the gym and competing, just that alone there's a blessing in that. I thought we started with just being aggressive, offensively as well as defensively. Maddie Martin, the first play of the game, was aggressive when she took it to the hole, and defensively, we got a stop. That sets the tone for the whole rest of the game, and for the most part, we stayed aggressive throughout the game. I was pleased with our effort."

"We've been playing a little timid, and we talked about having that grittiness, just being aggressive, hitting the floor, taking it to the hole, that's what we're about and that's the way we play here. We're not afraid of physicality. We did a really nice job of responding and being more physical on defense, being more physical on offense, and communicating with one another…we go in with those small goals and I think that's all you can ask for, a little better every game."
