Congratulations to Abbie Honkala, MCC's April Student-Athlete of the Month.  The McHenry High School graduate played for both our Volleyball and Softball teams these past two years.  Abbie was an outside hitter for our successful volleyball team who finished their 2023-24 season 26-10 overall and 5-2 in conference. She also was a pitcher and first baseman for our softball team, hitting .396, including 2 home runs.

The sophomore is a Clinical Laboratory Science major, planning to attend Northern Michigan in the fall.   Abbie excels in the classroom as well, maintaining a 4.00, will graduate with an associate in science degree, and is on the path to graduating as a NJCAA Academic All-American.

"Abbie is a two-sport athlete and maintains incredible academic coursework.  She is the kind of student-athlete you would like to keep for another two years," lauds Head Coach Wally Warner.

"There are few two-sport collegiate student-athletes anymore.  Add the incredible academics and Abbie is one-of-a-kind.  We are so proud to have been a part of her bright future," adds Director of Athletics Karen Wiley.
