The McHenry County College (MCC) women's tennis team was recently named NJCAA Region IV 2019 Division I Champions, earning them a spot in the national tournament held May 3–8, 2020.
During the regional tournament, the Scots tallied 19.5 points to claim victory over runner-up Moraine Valley Community College by 7.5 points. The Scots claimed six of nine flight championships to qualify for their first national tournament since 2002. The team also maintained an undefeated record in regular-season games.
Individually, Faith Vela (Woodstock North) took third in flight #2 singles; Gabbi Barnvos (Huntley) first in 3rd singles; Kyleigh Kessler (Crystal Lake Central) first in 4th singles; Elizabeth LaLond (Cary-Grove) first in 5th singles; and Morgan Paaske (Crystal Lake Central) first in 6th singles. Vela and Merritt Whiteside (Huntley) took first in 2nd doubles, and Lalonde and Paaske took first in 3rd doubles. Coach Jim Stockwell was also named the Region IV Coach of the Year.
